VERMARC CYCLING PROJECT
In 2020, Vermarc Sport organised the first ever professional cycling race since the outbreak of the corona crisis. That this would be followed up quickly became clear. However, for Vermarc Sport's business manager Marc Verbeeck, organising one cycling race is not enough.
"Last year, numerous races could not take place, and we are already hearing the first reports of race cancellations for the new cycling season. That is very unfortunate," said Marc Verbeeck.
Vermarc Sport wants to make cycling come alive. To this end, the Rotselaar-based company plans thirteen races in Flemish Brabant. Each race is part of the 'Vermarc Cycling Project'. With this project, we want racing at its most beautiful. Pure and with the sport as top priority. Vermarc Sport proved that this is possible with the first edition of the Grand Prix Vermarc on 5 July 2020.
"We want to continue supporting the Flemish Brabant region by organising cycling races. A lot of companies and associations are suffering from the corona crisis and do not dare to resume organising events. That is understandable, but when cycling is really in your blood, you can't help but give the cycling world a push."
Besides the 2nd edition of Vermarc Grand Prix, Vermarc Cycling Project will come up with a programme for different categories in 2021. Among others, female youth riders (newbies and juniors) will also be able to ride a 2-day cycling race. Furthermore, the Ronde van Vlaams-Brabant (5-day race) will also come under the wings of the Vermarc Cycling Project. Newcomers and juniors will also get their money's worth.
